Hi there! So I thought it would be fitting for my first post to be the quote I put on my graduation cap:
“Be a Fruit Loop in a world of Cheerios”
– By someone who must be full of wisdom and has an obvious love for cereal
Sooooo I couldn’t find who said/wrote this, but I thought it was an awesome, cute quote that really spoke to my personality. Truth be told though, Cheerios is actually my go-to cereal (I know, so boring; I do love Lucky Charms though). Anyways, this is the quote I chose to put on my high school graduation cap, because now that I am quite literally going out into the world and starting something new in college, I felt like this quote was something that I have to always keep in mind.
Self-confidence, not comparing myself to others, and truly learning to love myself for who I am was something that I started struggling with in eight grade. And although I am still struggling with it, it is something that I have slowly improved on throughout the years (I even wrote my college essay about this).
Although I can’t say that I am 100% happy and confident in who I am, I can say that I’m getting there, and I thought that this quote was something that I really have to keep in mind when starting college, meeting all new people, from all over the world.
In my mind this quote isn’t saying that you can’t be like other people, that you have to be different in every way in order to stand out in the world. I saw this quote as saying that in the world there are so many people who, like me, can’t or don’t feel comfortable with embracing who they are and showing the world. Many people decide to copy others and follow all the latest trends, even if they personally don’t like it, only so that they can “fit in”.
Those people become the CHEERIOS.
I think that this quote is saying, by loving and being who you really are, not copying others to fit in, but liking things because you, yourself like it, you become the FRUIT LOOP.
Being yourself makes you unique and different from everyone else in the world. No one else is like you, not even your doppelgänger that may be hanging out on the other side of the world.
Anyways that’s just my take. What do you think of the quote? Do any of you have stories or tips of your own to share about your journey to discovering and accepting yourself? I would love to hear them! 🙂
Until next time! I hope y’all will stick with me through all my adventures.
